Expanded Child Tax Credit!

May 11th, 2021

by Katrina Brooke

Dear Parents!
We are reaching out to families in our local and statewide communities to spread the word about the Expanded Child Tax Credit!
Most families may receive $3,000 – $3,600 per child, even if the family has little or no income. This means it’s important to file your 2020 taxes so you can get the federal tax credit, even if you do not normally file federal taxes.
Did you know the American Rescue Plan Act, passed by the federal administration, has expanded the Child Tax Credit? If you have children, you may be eligible for this extended credit. Have you filed your 2020 taxes? If you have not, it’s important that you file by May 17th (or request an extension by May 17, 2021 to file by October 15, 2021).
You can visit this website for more information:
To find free tax help near you: https://irs.treasury.gov/freetaxprep/
To file your taxes for free online: https://apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/
For even more up-to-date information, search online for the “expanded child tax credit”.
Respectfully,
Child Care Resources
