ENROLLMENT

This page shows our availability for our Summer session (June to August) and the Fall session (September to June).
School Tours
Open tours occur in January and February or when active openings exist. If classes are full, we invite you to view the school on weekends or evenings after 6:00 PM before applying. Families already on the waiting list always receive a tour before making a final registration decision.
Individual tours for classrooms with openings are by appointment only at 10:00 AM or 11:00 AM. Please call 425-882-1981 or email director@shyneschool.com to schedule.
Waiting List
To join the queue, mail or drop off the Pre-registration form (R26) along with the $30 fee. You can find our handbooks and specific registration steps on the Registration page.

Registration Procedures:

  • When we have openings we contact families on the current waiting lists that will move forward to the next class for the next school year.
  • We fill spots from the waiting lists and then complete class lists with the new student Pre-registration forms submitted in January.
  • Families receive a confirmation letter confirming their placement or notification of status on a waiting list by March 15th for summer and fall start dates.
  • We update enrollment for the following Summer and Fall, openings and waiting list on this page.

We continue to enroll year-round as we have openings.  Once a class is full, we start a waiting list and call those families when we have openings.

Enrollment & Program Guidelines
Eligibility & Structure
The Shyne School cares for children up to age 6. Five-year-olds may return for breaks and summer if they remain 6 and join Pre-K. Classes span a one-year age range using the Washington state August 31st kindergarten cutoff. Children remain in their class from September to August to build community and continuity, though a few fall birthdays may transition early in summer.
Sessions & Registration Timeline
The Fall session runs from early September through mid-June, and the Summer session runs from mid-June through late August. Year-round enrollment is open until full. Registration opens January 1st for summer or fall starts. The waiting list pauses from January to March 15th, with all families receiving status updates by March 15th. Once full, waiting lists resume. Part-day programs follow the Northshore School District calendar.
Tours
Tours last 30 to 40 minutes and occur Monday through Friday at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Open tours for the general public are held in January and February. Individual tours are reserved for when active spaces become available. Children are welcome, but parents are encouraged to visit alone first to focus on business details without overwhelming the child. Transition visits are provided before a child's first day.
Schedules & Tuition
Hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Families can choose 2, 3, or 5 days across AM, Plus, or Full Day schedules (Full Day also has a 4-day option).
  • Part Day: Runs 180 days per year. Tuition is billed September to May for attendance through mid-June. Families do not pay for breaks or closures; missed days due to unexpected closures are added back to the calendar.
  • Full Day: Attendance includes breaks, and families do not pay for closures. Full-year students receive a one-week vacation credit. Families can also take summers off unpaid to hold a fall spot.
  • Billing Details: Tuition is billed monthly based on 20 days per month. Five to eight days per year are built-in for emergencies, acting as illness credits if unused. Review the Tuition Agreement and Monthly Tuition Sheet on the Registration page for full rates.
